Property along Mexico's coastline has more than quadrupled in price over the past three years. Concern over the solidity of the dollar has inspired many with cash to invest in something solid like real estate, and the general malaise of the country has fueled an expatriate exodus. The fact that it is safe and relatively easy for expats to own property in Mexico has further spurred this movement.
Practically all the afforable land remaining in Mexico is owned by Mexican nationals who speak no English. Because I'm known as a bilingual Spanish teacher, I am often approached by Mexicans who want to sell parcels of land. I have facilitated a number of successful transactions for non Spanish-speakers. This is a win-win interaction for all parties which I enjoy very much, as I have a deep love of the Mexican people, the language and the culture.
In the winter, I live and work in San Pancho, Nayarit, a sweet fishing village less than an hour from Puerta Vallarta, with inexpensive non-stop round trips to the US including Albuquerque. Please contact me if I your dream is to escape to the tropics and live more simply and inexpensively. It's a great life...
